My mom’s book club has been “renting” the book, “Three Cups of Tea” out to each other for a $3.00 donation to the Central Asia Institute. They have raised another $20. That puts Thrilled by the Thought’s donation total up to $98! Yay!

If you don’t know what I’m referring to, Thrilled by the Thought is encouraging donations to the Central Asia Institute, an organization that builds schools for children in Afghansitan and Pakistan. The organization is so efficiently run, that $1.00 can send a child to school for a month. You can read all about it in the book, “Three Cups of Tea.” You can read all about Thrilled by the Thought’s donations here.

If you would like to donate, you can do so at this website. Send me an email at thrilledbythethought{at}yahoo{dot}com or leave a comment anywhere on this site, so we can add your donation to our totals!

$98 and counting!

Remember the fabulous book, Three Cups of Tea? Remember the great message it promotes of peace through education? Wouldn’t you love for your children to know the story of Greg Mortenson and his schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan?

Well, now there is a fantastic picture book that tells the story in simple language!

Listen to the Wind is told from the perspective of the children from the first school Greg Mortenson built. On top of the great story, the collage illustrations are delightful! You can’t go wrong with this book. If you purchase it through the link at www.threecupsoftea.com, up to 7% will go towards the Central Asia Institute.

And remember, if you decide to donate anything to the Central Asia Institute, send me an email at thrilledbythethought {at} yahoo {dot} com or leave a comment anywhere on this site so we can track how much Thrilled by the Thought readers have donated. So far, we have donated $78! Remember, it only takes $1.00 to send a child to school for a month.

I am so excited to announce that we have raised $63 together for the Central Asia Institute so far! To put that number into perspective, it takes $1.00 to send a child to school for a month. It takes $20 to buy one student’s school supplies for a year.

Don’t know what I’m talking about? Click here to read about the fundraiser Thrilled by the Thought is doing for schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

I also want to share the creative idea my mother has for raising money the Central Asia Institute. Her book club is going to be reading Three Cups of Tea in February. She purchased a copy of the book and is now “renting” it out to the other women in the book club for $3.00. She will then donate that $3.00 to the Central Asia Insitute. So far, she has 3 women signed up! What a great idea! If you have a book club, you might consider reading this book and participating in a similar fund raising event! And if you do, I’d love to hear about it!

So sorry it’s taken me until halfway through the day to post the winner. I’ve been Christmas shopping like a mad woman.

The winner of the book, Three Cups of Tea is Jolena who said,

I’ve wanted to read this for a long time! I’d love to win it and will go with your rules.

If you would like to know what she means by rules, click here to read the details of this giveaway. I truly wish I could give this book to everyone who commented because it is so inspiring. If you are devastated you didn’t win, you could bug Jolena to pass it on to you when she is done or you could buy it at www.threecupsoftea.com. If you buy it through that site, up to 7% of the proceeds will be donated to the Central Asia Institute.

Now, the other part: Like I said before, I am going to donate $1.00 each time the book is passed along and I invite any willing readers to do the same. You can donate online here or mail your donation to Central Asia Institute, P.O. Box 7209, Bozeman, MT 59771, or you can call 406-585-7841.

If you do donate, please drop me a little note at thrilledbythethought {at} yahoo {dot} com so I can keep track of how much Thrilled by the Thought readers donate. I would like Thrilled by the Thought readers to eventually donate $50,000- the cost of building one school and supporting it for 3-5 years. It’s a hefty goal, but I know it can be done. Each time the book is passed around, I will donate $1.00 and invite readers to do the same. Eventually, we can donate enough to build a new school!

If you would like, please spread the word about these donations. I will constantly be posting updates on the whereabouts of the book and how much Thrilled by the Thought readers have donated.
