What kind of child were you? Shy or talkative? I, myself, was shy. I remember hiding behind my mom’s legs when adults talked to me. Among my peers, I was incredibly outgoing. But I never EVER would have had the guts to have this conversation with a strange man at the park:
The cast: 1 Strange Girl. Played by unknown strange girl.
1 Strange Man. Played by my husband.
Strange Girl to Strange Man: “Have you seen the big girl? She has short hair and she’s wearing a purple shirt with words on it.”
Strange Man: Looking around to see if Strange Girl is talking to somebody else since he doesn’t know her. Finally realizing she is, indeed, talking to him he replies, “What? Uh…no.”
Strange Girl: “She’s really mean. Have you seen her?”
Strange Man: “No.”
Strange Girl: “Will you tell me when she’s coming? She’s really mean. I don’t like her.”
Strange Man: “Uhh…”
Strange Girl runs away. Strange Man scratches his head. Strange Girl comes running back.
Strange Girl: “Oh. And one more thing.”
Strange Man: “Ummm…ok…”
Strange Girl: “I can snap.” She demonstrates her snapping ability and runs away.

Tell the strange man that he needs to be a little bit more responsive. She obviously thought he could solve her problems. That has always been an issue with Ryan. People love to tell him their problems. What’s up with that??
OMGosh I love this story! And yes, tell your DH to get into the role of Strange Man a bit better next time.
I must defend the strange man. This is a very summarized version of all that was said. I believe the strange man had much more to say to the strange girl. For instance, upon hearing that this “other girl” was mean, the strange man asked, concerned, why is she mean. Only to find out that the strange girl was in the middle of a game called tag with a couple dozen other kids and the “other girl” was IT and the strange girl was calling her mean because she was trying to tag her. The strange man told the girl a good place to hide and said that he would keep his eyes out for “other girl” with short hair and a purple shirt with words on it. I believe rebecca was just paraphrasing to get to the funny part at the end. It was quite funny. Oh…. if you didn’t know….I amd the strange man:)
I’ll be honest, I was kind of waiting for “the mean girl with the purple shirt” to end up being Lydia. I just thought, purple shirt and automatically figured it was Rebecca’s kid
Gotta love the random things kids tell you, I hear that stuff all the time and it cracks me up.
Hilarious!!! I was such an annoying kid when I was little because I was a big-time chatter-box. “Strange girl” part could have totally been played by my younger self. Totally cracked up that “strange man” was your husband – so funny!
LOL! Your husband needs to work on being stranger though.
How could anyone wearing purple be considered mean??
Loved the story, loved the conversation.
Laughing. Loving that strange man but still laughing.
