I zoomed past a lemonade stand yesterday, leaving the jumping and waving kids in the dust. Then I stopped and backed up because I immediately thought about Evonne’s sweet little girl and how heartbroken she was when nobody would stop at her Sprite stand. And how I would have gone to buy a Sprite from Van if I had known about the stand at the right time and also if I had known where she lived. And how since I didn’t buy a Sprite from Van, I should show some generosity to my local Van.
I bought a lemonade and a Kool-aid for a grand total of 50 cents, but I gave the kiddos a dollar and told them to keep the change (I’ve always wanted to say that).
My daughter was ecstatic to have the lemonade, and you know what? My Kool-aid was actually just what the doctor ordered that hot day after a sweaty walk.
That’s 4 people helped in one transaction: 2 underage business owners, one cranky toddler and one sweaty mama. Did you know a dollar could go that far?
Next time I see a lemonade stand operated by hopeful children, I won’t have to back up illegally on a busy road. I’ll slow down ahead of time. I learned my lesson.

I try to stop whenever I can, though I rarely have cash on me. If only they took debit cards!
You are so sweet. I will try to stop more often now too.
I am a sucker for lemonade stand. Or really anything kids are selling. It is for this reason I can never visit a 3rd world country… I would come home nekkid and penniless.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUPPORTING THE LITTLE ONE’S! It was heart breaking watching Van have big tears, because no one would stop. It is only 50 cents, and trust me it makes their whole week.
Yes come to your nieces!
I know I know we live too far away, but we are in the same county!
Kind of…right? or no?
