Don’t Drink the Water

by Rebecca on February 3, 2010

The little dear needs a lesson in tenses.  Or maybe Daddy does.  At any rate, there is some confusion in our house.

Last night, during bath time, Lydia started scooping up the bubbles and water and depositing them in her mouth- you know, drinking her bath water!  Ryan said, “No, don’t drink the water.”

She said, “I drink water.”

He said, “No, don’t drink the water.”

She said more vehemently, “I DRINK water!”

He said, “No, don’t drink the water.”

She threw her hands in the air and yelled, “I DRINK WATER!”

Ryan thought for a minute and decided to determine exactly what she was telling him.  “Do you mean you DRANK the water?”

She replied with a sigh and a ”Yes!”

“Oh.  Well, don’t drink the water.”

“OK!”

She was being very clear about what she was saying. I just need to learn HER tenses. She is such a cute little trouble maker.

That’s so funny. I am constantly telling my two kids not to drink the bath water. The 3 year old knows and gets it but my 18 month old isn’t getting it one bit.

Ohhhh… after reading the title of your post, I thought there was going to be some kind of “announcement”.

Camille’s comment was funny. I hadn’t thought of the title that way.

I love cute confusion!

Oh, lets see how many times you have to learn this lesson. :)
