Our Toddler’s New Bedtime Routine

by Rebecca on November 13, 2009

We inadvertently taught our daughter how to stall bedtime.

One night, in our haste to watch The Office, we forgot to do our traditional ”attack her face with kisses” routine.

As we left her room, we heard her little baby voice shout, “KISSES!”

We hurried back into her room, rushed to her crib and proceeded to cover her face, ears, and head in precious kisses.

She found it so funny that when we shut the door on our way out for the second time, she again shouted, “KISSES!”

Unable to resist, we again obliged her request, this time leaving her giggling with eyes closed, satisfied, snug and ready to sleep.

The little game has now become such a routine that, instead of letting us kiss her goodnight immediately after putting her in her crib, she requests us to go to the door and then come back for kisses.

“No no no….Door…Kisses.”

And now, bedtime takes at least 5 more minutes each night.  Suckers that we are, we always come back when she requests more KISSES…because, really, how can you resist such a sweet demand?

Don’t stop until they tell you to stop! ;) I don’t think I realized just how quickly Savannah would become my big girl, and not my toddler. Sad days.
