Halloween Decorations and Your Paper Boy
by Rebecca on October 19, 2009
Guest blogger today: My handsome husband, Ryan (an idea stolen from Von from Sell Party of…) on the often overlooked effects regarding outdoor Halloween decorations and paper route delivery people:
Halloween is awesome! I especially love all the decorations. I love the decorations we get to put up in our house and all the ones out and about the town. I like them all- From the big funny blowup ghost with pumpkin heads to the crazy scary creepy guy that is standing out in the front lawn. Some people are so creative in the way they portray their thoughts and feelings of Halloween. I just love driving around looking at all the decorations.
However……when I’m running my paper route in the middle of the night…I’ll tell you what, at 3:00 in the morning that crazy scary creepy fake guy standing in the middle of the lawn can really play some mind tricks on you.
I know this is going to sound very silly, but for about a week I was scared out of my mind every time I did my route. Every wedding dressedly clad zombie from hell or crazy scary creepy guy out and about made me think of every horror movie I have and have not seen.
I have a crazy imagination, which is normally good right? Not at 3:00 in the morning. All I could imagine were all of those so called “decorations” coming at me with knives or fangs or who knows what. I was afraid to leave my car and tried throwing the papers from my window as quickly as I could. If I missed the porch and had to get out and re-throw, I was constantly looking over my shoulder, just waiting for the zombie bride to take me down.
Somehow I got over it, but what a crazy ride that was. It is truly amazing how much my mind played tricks on me…
Or did it? dun…dun…dun…! (Creepy scary music fading out…)

Love it Ryan!! =) It’s nice to get a bloggin’ break huh Rebecca?
When Paul did his paper route he had that one dog…ya know the one that jumps out of the middle of no where.
Every time I went with him I would see things that were nothing, at least you are seeing decorations. LOL.
The joys of a paper route!
Were there spiders, you know how that creeps you out. Think how brave you are to keep going even though there were monsters and creepy people on the lookout for you. Just keep saying to yourself, “they are not real, they are not real, they are not real.” , and before you know it, Halloween will soon be over. And you can think about how “Thankful” you are.
P.S. I wish there were pictures
