I did it. I organized the eyesore in my kitchen. This spot started out as a place to keep coupons, bills, and mailing supplies. It quickly turned into this:
First it was piles of junk. Then, as I grew weary of looking at junk, I started putting those piles of junk in folders. Soon, the folders got full, and I had to bring in more and more manila replacements. Finding the checkbook or stamps in this mess required an entire afternoon.
It was ridiculous. So I purged. And purged. And purged.
Pile #2 of my three piles of junk.
And voila! I have two main folders- one for bills and one for weekly review. Also a “Fun Things To Do” folder.
Now I just need to give the table itself a makeover. Any suggestions?

VERY nice! maybe you could come over now and do ours? we have 3 drawers in the kitchen full of junk!
I think the table looks nice! Why is it, when there’s a flat surface, it ends up getting covered with junk? You have inspired me to go clear off the “desk” in the kitchen!
Good job!
Ooh la la! Very nice work. I think I see a side business starting up for you… I’d be your first customer!
i need to do that in more than one place around here!
can you take a better picture of the table itself? i think colorful new paint would be good for a kitchen, like a bright red or yellow. what colors are in your kitchen?
Hi Rebecca!
I feel awful that I haven’t told you before now how much I enjoy your postings – Abigail does too!
Your table looks fine but if you want to spruce it up a bit for pennies you can find a crayon that is the same color or a little darker and fill in any discolored spots. It is an easy fix for wood.
I am sure you’ll get 100 better suggestions, I really just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your blog and watching Lydia grow. She is a lucky little girl to have such a wonderful mother!
Paint the table white like Swedish. I’m about to paint everything in my house white.
Good for you! It looks so organized and neat.
