Clean Sheet Day

It’s Clean Sheet Day!

You read that right.

Long ago, I decided that life is more fun when you have something to celebrate.  So, in addition to the normal celebrations (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, birthdays, anniversaries), we also make a big deal out of the little holidays (St. Patrick’s Day, Groundhog Day, What if Dogs and Cats Had Opposable Thumbs Day).

We celebrate half-birthdays and half-anniversaries.  We also celebrate the first day of spring, summer, and fall.  We completely ignore the first day of winter, in hopes that we can somehow will that dreadful season away.

The first day of each month also gets special recognition in our household.

And every Monday?  Clean Sheet Day.  Really, if you want to get technical, Monday is Laundry Day.  But who wants to celebrate the laundry?  Instead, we celebrate the crisp, clean sheets that come from doing laundry.  The fresh smell of fabric softener.  The delicious feeling of sinking into bed after a long, hard day is made all the more delicious by a simple sheet change.

Hope you sleep as happily and with as much celebration as I do tonight!

every Monday, huh? I confess I’m a Thursday clean sheet girl because Monday is the day I do the towels. So I’m saying happy clean sheet day from the happy clean towel duty. Just finished!

I love clean sheet day! Mine’s Sunday. Oprah once said that she changes her sheets like everyday or every 3 days. Reason #4,583,113 that I want to be Oprah. :)

Every Monday? I wish I could say I do the same….sometimes I get lazy and it goes for longer than a week! But don’t tell anyone because it’s a secret!

I also celebrate the beginnings of 3 out of 4 seasons! Winter gets ignored because I do not think it’s fun to be cold all the time.

Clean Sheet day sounds so wonderful that I’m going to incorporate that into my week. Laundry is every day–think 5 sons, so I can’t have laundry day. We have a holiday we stole from a commercial. Our house had sold a couple of years ago. That night we were going to put a bid on this little house I just LOVED. I drove by it after work, excitedly talking to my aunt about it. It had a sales pending sign. My heart plummeted. Dr. Dobson said in a book that for every high, you have an equal low. I just never realized they’ be so close together. I bought a turkey, I was so bummed. By the end of the week, I had the oysters, the oranges, and all the fixins’ for a big holiday dinner. I started cooking Saturday morning and by BIG DINNER, it had evolved into MerryThanksGween. Everyone had to dress up in Halloween costumes (we have a trunk full) and explain what they were thankful for. It’s now a family tradition:)
