My husband and I ran across the book, “I Like You,” by Sandol Stoddard Warburg and illustrated by Jacqueline Chwast, a few years ago, and fell in love with it. The illustrations are really fun and cute. But the writing is what I love the most. The book is a list of reasons of why “I like you,” written in such a fun and silly way, and with childlike logic. The writing style is so innocent and sweet. The first page says,
I like you and I know why I like you because you are a good person to like
How can you disagree with that? And how can you not want to read more? On some pages, it’s as if Warburg was writing specifically about the goofy relationship of my husband and me.
You know how to be silly That’s why I like you Boy are you ever silly I never met anybody sillier than me till I met you I like you because You know when it’s time to stop being silly Maybe day after tomorrow Maybe never Oops too late it’s quarter past silly
I like you because you know where I’m ticklish and you don’t tickle me there except just a little tiny bit sometimes. But if you do then I know where to tickle you too

It would make the perfect Valentine’s gift! (which is only a month away!)
