I would pass on Lord of the Flies and Crime and Punishment. Otherwise I have loved all your other choices that I have read and look forward to reading those I haven't read.
I would add Barbara Kingsolvers, "Poisonwood Bible" and
Karen Hesse's "Out of the Dust". Don't forget Dicken's "A Tale of Two Cities" or just about anything from Alexandre Dumas.

How cool, so many great classics. I should make a list too. I think I would have the same trouble...where to start? And how to narrow it down? I think your list of 21 is great.
